Privacy Policy for Dvy
Last Updated: February 22, 2025
Welcome to Dvy ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how Dvy collects, uses, and shares information when you use our mobile application to scan, parse, and split receipts.
1. Information We Collect
- Camera and Images: Dvy requires access to your device’s camera to capture images of receipts. These images are processed locally to extract text via Optical Character Recognition (OCR).
- Receipt Data: We collect the text extracted from your receipts, including store names, dates, item descriptions, and prices.
- Device Information: We may collect technical info (model, OS version) via Google Firebase to help us fix bugs and improve performance.
2. How We Process Your Data (AI Analysis)
Dvy uses Google Gemini AI (provided by Google LLC) to analyze receipt text and organize it into itemized data.
- When you scan a receipt, the extracted text is sent to Google’s servers for processing.
- The data sent is limited to the text found on the receipt (items, prices, and store info).
- By using Dvy, you acknowledge that your receipt data will be handled by Google in accordance with the Google Privacy Policy.
3. Data Storage and Security
- Local Storage: Basic app preferences and single-user session data are stored on your device.
- Cloud Sessions: If you use the "Start Online Session" feature, receipt data is stored in Google Firebase Firestore to allow real-time synchronization with invited participants.
- Encryption: We use industry-standard HTTPS encryption for all data transmitted between the app, Google Gemini, and Firebase.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We only share data with:
- Service Providers: Google (for AI analysis and cloud hosting via Firebase).
- Collaborators: If you join a shared session, the items and prices on the receipt will be visible to the other participants in that specific session.
